Former Nevada Wolf Pack star Gabby Williams is making her mark back in her hometown of Reno, Nevada. Williams, who currently plays for the Seattle Storm in the WNBA, has launched her first development camp, the Gabby Williams Elite Development Basketball Camp.
The camp, held at Bishop Manogue Catholic High School, is designed to provide young female basketball players with the tools and guidance to improve their skills. Williams, a two-time Olympic medalist and WNBA All-Star, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the camp.
"I'm really excited to be back home and to share my love of basketball with the next generation of players," said Williams. "I want to help these young girls develop their skills, build their confidence, and inspire them to pursue their dreams."
The camp features a comprehensive curriculum that covers all aspects of the game, including ball handling, shooting, defense, footwork, and teamwork. Williams and her team of experienced coaches provide personalized instruction tailored to each player's individual needs.
In addition to on-court training, the camp also includes off-court sessions that focus on nutrition, mental health, and leadership development. Williams believes that these components are essential for the holistic growth of young athletes.
"Basketball is more than just a game," said Williams. "It's about discipline, perseverance, and confidence. I want to help these girls become well-rounded individuals who succeed both on and off the court."
The camp has attracted a diverse group of participants, ranging in age from elementary school to high school. The players come from all over Nevada and beyond, eager to learn from one of the sport's most respected role models.
"It's amazing to have the opportunity to learn from Gabby Williams," said 13-year-old participant Emily Johnson. "She's an incredible player and an inspiration to us all."
Williams' return to Reno has been met with great enthusiasm from the local community. The camp has sold out, and many local businesses have volunteered to provide support.
"Gabby is a true ambassador for our city," said Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve. "Her commitment to giving back to the community is inspiring, and we are honored to have her back home."
Williams' development camp is not only a valuable opportunity for young players, but also a testament to her passion for her hometown. She hopes to continue hosting the camp annually, creating a legacy of basketball excellence in Reno.
"I want to make a lasting impact on the Reno community," said Williams. "I want to empower these young girls to reach their full potential and to show them that anything is possible if they believe in themselves."
